ABOUT MESOPOTAMIA

Inventions:

• The Wheel
• The hanging gardens of Babylon. These gardens are one of the
Seven Wonders of the World. They are said to have been built
by King Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon at the time, for his
wife, the queen.

Basic History:

• Initial stages of civilization began to form about six thousand
years ago.
• The first cities were created, a system of record keeping/ writing
was developed, structures were built, and empires were born.
• Within the past two hundred years, remains ziggurats prove
many of the theories that have been created about Ancient
Mesopotamia. A ziggurat is a building with steps, usually leading
to the top, which is capped by a temple of some sort.
